LABS TEAM PREPARATION

Thank you for participating in the Labs Team Intensive. We ask that you set aside intentional time to spend preparing. Here are a few suggestions on how to prepare, as well as some more detailed information about the event. We're excited to have you with us!

A Note About Our Events

The great joy of our work at the Redemptive Lab is the time we spend in person as a community with a cohort of founders. This is a unique time for each of us to unplug, be present, learn, listen, and encourage. While we know everyone is busy with much to do outside of the event, we ask that everyone be fully present during the entirety of this gathering. Our events are unlike a typical conference where you might be able to step away and take a call; they are customized for each participant, intentional, and relational -- each person plays a key role in each part of the day. Since we only spend 3 days in person together, we ask that you plan to be completely unplugged during events, and that you plan your time accordingly.

Prepare Your 4-Minute Labs Vision Presentation

On Day 2 of the Labs In-Person Event, each Team will present a 4-minute “Vision” that answers the question “Why Redemptive Labs in my ecosystem?”

Prepare Your 3-4 Minute Personal Story

  • On Day 1 after Dinner, each Labs Team member will share an informal personal narrative to get to know your peers and the Praxis team members.

  • This is simply a time to share a condensed version of your life story or a major life inflection point with your peers

  • Consider this as more of your off the record story, and less about what you have accomplished or build and more about what God has done in your life. Consider sharing what He’s rescued you from, how He has specifically and uniquely called you and the areas/problems you feel called to participate in God’s redemptive work in the world.

  • We do ask that you spend some time thinking about it in advance just to be considerate of time. No decks needed for this — it’s informal and personal. Your city vision presentations are on Day 2 and allow you the chance to share more about that specific vision — this is about your personal story.

Preparing to be Present & Relationally Available

  • As you’re able, we encourage you to come to the event well rested - the days are designed to maximize our time together; the schedule begins early each morning, and concludes late each evening, with optional social time to continue conversations.

  • Prepare your team and families with the expectation that you will be unplugged during the entire event.

  • If you have other Labs Team members or advisors who won’t be at the intensive, schedule time to debrief with them after.

  • Review the labs agenda.

  • Review the Mentors, Praxis Team, and peer Labs Team bios.

Weather & Attire

  • Dress code will be casual, but nice; bundle up as you may want to walk to your hotel from our HQ.

  • Winter weather in New York City will be cold. Average temperatures range between 30-50* F.

Visiting NYC

If this is your first time to NYC, we definitely recommend seeing the sights. Below are a few of our favorites:

  • Central Park // About a 20 minute walk from Coram Deo

  • Bird and Branch // The best local coffee shop, a one minute walk from Coram Deo

  • TodayTix // The best app for finding good deals on Broadway tickets. Our agenda will be full, but if you come in a day early, or stay a day late Broadway is a must-see. Our team loves Hamilton and Hadestown.

  • The Highline // A great place for a walk among the trees and along the water. Begins a few blocks south of Coram Deo and will take you all the way to Chelsea

Navigating the Subway is easy from our office. The nearest stop (42nd Street Station) has an entrance at 44th and 8th can take you to pretty much anywhere in the city you want to go. If you have ApplePay on your phone, you can tap to pay, otherwise you can buy a ticket at the station. Google or Apple Maps has an option to chose public transportation as your transport method, and will give easy to follow step-by-step instructions on which trains to take. Chat with a Praxis team member if you have questions!

Event Venue & Lodging

The event will be held at Coram Deo — a house of entrepreneurship, prayer, and worship in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, NYC. The building is located on 45th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenue. All event sessions will start and end here.

Coram Deo
409 W. 45th St.
New York, NY 10036

We have secured a hotel block at The Intercontinental Hotel, a few minute walk from Coram Deo. We encourage you stay here so you can enjoy some additional time with other Leads in the evenings, but you are free to book any hotel you’d like.
